About

Tess (she/her) is a disabled, multidisciplinary artist based in London. She began as a dancer with Touch Compass, Aotearoa New Zealand's leading professional arts organisation that is disability-led. She has also worked as an arts educator with Touch Compass and Artbox, an artist studio in Islington, London, for disabled artists.

Tess’ work is necessary and instinctual. She builds layers of hands and fingers in abstract form with colour and texture interplay. Coupled with quotes of what people have said to her as a disabled person, each work documents the unknotting of conflict and emotions with moments that both clash and are calm, things that are both soft and hard.
